Helen Higginbotham, Esq., MBA is an attorney specializing in matters of labor and employment law. She began her career doing community outreach and as a bilingual social worker in the NJ state prison system. Always she has remained actively engaged in her community. Her passions are matters involving race, women and children. Miss Higginbotham has served on several community boards, volunteered as a human rights commissioner and president of an upstate NY chapter of the NAACP. Currently she is president and founder of When Black Women Gather, LLC, an initiative charged with promoting relationship building and inter-generational conversations between women. She is a change agent and champion for equality in human rights and social justice issues; never hesitating to rise as the leader to confront injustice and inequality anywhere. Preservation and celebration of civil rights and Black history in America is important to her. She has been acknowledged for uplifting the community through acts of volunteerism, mentoring, educating, advocacy and community development. Currently Miss Higginbotham is a labor and employment consultant with an established non-profit legal organization and an Adjunct Professor at a local university. She has lived in several states, traveled to several countries on six of the seven continents and lived, worked and studied internationally in Spain and in Ghana. She is a native of New Jersey, graduate of Rowan University, Howard University and Rutgers University, School of Law, respectively. ​

Greetings Queen Helen:

I am so delighted to have you share your poetry with us at "The Poets House" Series on Friday, February 19, 2021 as a part of IDEA's Artistic Collaboration in the City of Camden. By the way, this evening I also host a poetry series on Third Thursdays entitled "A Place in Time" out of the Camden County Historical Society, located at 1900 Park Blvd in Parkside.
