Happiness Toolbox
This program promotes cultural and multilingual literacy for children of all backgrounds. Fun, exploratory curriculum includes embracing diverse cultures, learning foreign languages, developing and identifying community and personal values, connecting to self and environment.
This has been offered as a 10-part in school curriculum, out of school program and of course our BRIDGE signature summer retreat for students. It is a nice transition back to school, proven to bridge the gap of the summer slide while having fun. We have an 8-year partnership with Gideon's Garden of Taft Farms and Grace Church where students connect to nature, develop an understanding of the seed to harvest cycle. Grace Church is our major sponsor that pays our host site. Young people learn resilience and communication skills, and conflict resolution as well--we focus on the unity in Community, values, and fun. We practice mindfulness and centering skills for youth to fine tune their own self-regulation. Happiness Toolbox is based on the principles of Positive Psychology, cross-cultural skills (proven necessary as the 40 developmental assets for youth of all stages), diversity leadership, and resiliency. We focus on recognizing and utilizing our character strengths, building positive relationships within our communities, and adopting a growth mindset. Happiness Toolbox is an evidence-based program steeped in positive education designed to engage diverse students to support their success and cultivate their resilience in school, family, and community. We equip students with resources strategies and experimental learning to facilitate their achievement and success in order for them thrive and flourish. Funding provided by Greylock Federal Credit Union, Sohn Foundation, Berkshire Bank, Grace Church & Pennie Curry. |
